From then until now…what I learned
Anyone who has ever bought into the dream of network/multi-level marketing knows that its not perfect, myself included.
I became involved with it about 10 years ago because I was looking for a way to supplement my primary income. I scoured the internet looking for opportunities to check out and came across plenty of them. After signing up for more information about a few of them that assured me that they were the best, the easiest, most lucrative, least expensive and other promises to numerous to mention, I started receiving follow up emails.
I must have chosen the right opportunity I thought because I was receiving so many follow up emails from the opportunities I had inquired about. They’re really interested in me, I thought because look at how much they times they are keeping up with me.
Silly me.
Little did I know that when I gave my email address to request more information, my name was placed in an auto-responder. It’s almost laughable thinking about it now.
What a rude awakening to find that the success I was promised didn’t come as easily as I had been told. I worked hard and was willing to, but the fact of the matter is my friends and family were just not interested.
No one wants to be hounded by their distant cousin or old high school teammate to join up in the next big money making scheme or buy whatever wonderful irreplaceable product you happen to be pushing at the moment.
So how do you know which opportunity is right for you?
Here are some of the answers I must have before signing up for an opportunity:
- What is the product?
- How much does it cost?
- Is there a monthly cost or a one-time cost or both?
- Can I earn money as a free member of the program?
- Will I be required to purchase an inventory?
- If so, how much will it cost and how often must I purchase?
- Is there an auto-ship requirement?
- What do you know about the company or its leaders and what is their track record?
- What else am I required to buy in order to promote or use this program?
- How do I earn money in this program?
- You could look at some of the scam reports but don’t use them as your sole reason for joining or leaving an opportunity. A lot of times people will call one opportunity a scam to get you to look at another opportunity they are promoting.
There are lots more questions you could ask before joining anything but the main point I am trying to communicate is check it out before you sign.
You will probably make some mistakes along the way.
I’ve made plenty of them.
Just don’t quit.
Your attitude will determine your altitude.
