One thing can be a real deterrent to your success online is when your family is not behind what you’re doing. Ok, maybe it’s not that they’re against what you’re doing but they cannot see any value in it. After all, are you making any money doing it? You’re always on the computer! Why exactly do you spend so much time on the internet, what are you doing? If you’re not making any money from the business, why are you spending money? How much money did you spend on your business so we can deduct that when we file our taxes? How much longer will you stay with it before you quit? They say internet businesses are a scam, nobody makes money doing that. Why so many conference calls if you don’t have any money coming in? I’m going to the store, do you need anything? The game comes on in 10 minutes, are you planning to watch it? I’ve been thinking of painting this room, what color do you think I should go with? You haven’t been on the internet for over a week, are you feeling ok? Did you hear that AI left the Grizzlies? YOU have a blog? I know you’re busy, but you gotta come here and see what this guy on tv is doing.

Sometimes I just want to pull my hair out strand by strand.

Now I don’t believe for one minute that my spouse does not want to see me succeed online.  After all, if I win, he wins, right? I also don’t believe that I am the only internet marketer that runs into this.

So tell me, how do you get your family members to understand that building a business online requires your time and in most cases, your money too?

Invite them to join you?

Ask for their help?

Get up 3 hours early every day (weekends too) so you can get some uninterrupted work done before you leave for the office?

Explain and apologize for the fact that what  you’re trying to do requires some of your time on a daily basis (hopefully, without interruption) after which I will be glad to watch the game with you?

Forget about it, I give up!

 If you think I am going to end this post with the perfect answer to the problem, I’m not.

As a long-term employee at a large telecommunications company, I learned early on the value of preparing for life after retirement. Well, that has changed drastically for any number of reasons. In my case, after some hanky-panky by our former CEO, I watched our stock prices plummet from nearly $40 a share to less than $2 a share which all but vaporized my 401k and postponed my retirement indefinitely. Many companies are outsourcing work to lower operating expenses and in doing so, sent your job overseas somewhere. Maybe you find yourself having to raise or help raise your children’s children or having to take care of an aging parent.

No matter what your situation is, you find that instead of being able to sleep late every day and enjoy retirement, for some reason you’re having to go back to work. Go ahead. Get mad for just a minute. Now, take a deep breath and let’s move on.

Although I call myself an Attraction Marketing Coach, I am far from knowing everything there is to know. Your training in this business or any business has to be ongoing. Ever have a duh moment?

I seem to have them all of the time particularly, since I decided to become an internet marketer.

I often wondered how some people were able to crank out post after post with great headlines and killer content. I just thought the other internet marketers were more creative than I was. While that may be true to some degree, I eventually discovered by watching and asking other successful people (that’s how I pick up a lot of cool tips), that they are using something called a swipe file.

Duh moment coming…a swipe file?

Yep, a swipe file, a collection of tested and proven ads and sales letters.

How come I didn’t already know this?

Maybe I did, but I didn’t know what they were called in marketing-ese. What I was doing was whenever I saw a marketing piece with a great headline, awesome bullets, or a really terrific closing, I kept the entire direct marketing piece so that the part I want to ‘use later’ stayed in context. I saved a whole bunch of ‘great stuff I could use later’ to my desktop, in bookmarks, email folders and saved documents.

The problem was because I had all of this ‘great stuff’ stored in so many different places, I could never seem to find the one I wanted to use when I wanted it.

What a huge mess!!!

Another thing about my collection of ‘great stuff ‘ is that I didn’t really know if what I was collecting was really effective or not. I just knew that it grabbed my attention.

One of the most valuable tools that I found to get  ‘great stuff I could use later is called My Instant Swipe File, by Jeff Gardner. I decided to give it a try.

All I can say now is, how do you spell relief?

You may or may not know that Website Directory Submission is quickly becoming
a very popular and easy way to get quality, one way links to your website.

These kind of links are exactly what the search engines are looking for. The
websites with more quality, one way links are typically the sites that rank
the highest, period.

With that said, there are several websites directory submission programs on
the market. The best and easiest to use is a new program created by Brad Callen,
called Directory Submitter.

The software currently contains around 1700 website directories, all free.
It is the most straightforward program that we’ve come across, in that all you
need to do is:

1. Input your website details (i.e. title, description, URL, etc.) into the
software

2. Click on the directory you want to submit to

And then the program will automatically fill in your website details. Then,
you simply click the submit button and your website is instantly submitted to
the directory. Then, you can move to the next directory, go through the list,
and by the time you’re finished you’ll have roughly 1500 one way links pointing
to your website.

I can’t think of an easier way to get links. Of course, if you’re going to
get links this quickly, it’s important to vary your website title (anchor text)
every 20-30 links or so, to make things look more natural to the search engines.

You can do this very easily via Directory
Submitter when you create your project in the beginning.

The software is constantly being updated and their is an incredible community
of users established that all work together to make the software better and
better, so you know you’re getting great value for the money.
